The most rigorous and useful studies compare numerous and diverse groups to each other.  In addition to understanding how athletes differ from each other, we want to see how elite athletes differ people who never experienced that level of competition.  The NTQ provides that information, and also provides data from people who played sport before graduating High School but didn’t continue to the elite level.  By asking the same questions to people with different backgrounds, the ATS can make the kinds of important comparisons needed to help athletes from all levels of performance and backgrounds.
